The single plank lid above a horizontal box carved with bold interlaced strap-work, centred upon an elaborate iron lock-plate with contrasting inlaid initials "M H". Above a full width strap-work carved drawer with concealed interior locking arrangement. The interior with double compartment, one of which having a concealed wooden spring loaded action - to reveal a lower compartment, as can be seen in the accompanying images.
